Lisa Cooper

I qualified as a VN in 1999, and am now working for Goddard Veterinary Group in London as Head of Training. My aim on council is to help increase communication between the BVNA and other professional bodies, to ensure that we are all working towards the goal of recognition and increased development of the VN in practice.

I think that it is vitally important that VN’s are recognised as paraprofessionals to Veterinary Surgeons, and not as a walking mop!. The VN’s role in practice is becoming more and more specialised, and is breaking away from the old adage of a ‘mini vet’ and is now developing into one that envelopes the care of the client and patient. I think it is important that the BVNA represents its members by working towards strong links with the bodies that represent Veterinary Surgeons, to ensure the continually developing role of the VN has the support of the profession.
