In practice it is very often the role of the veterinary nurse to deal with the fundamentals of small animal dentistry, and is an area that many veterinary nurses enjoy getting to grips with.

For this reason the BVNA felt it was important to support this particular area by offering a specialist course to increase knowledge in this subject area, which in turn enhances the services offered by veterinary practices.

This year long course consists of three 2 day residential held at Raseheath College, Cheshire, and covers both theory and practical aspects of dentistry. The lecturers on the course all have recognised expertise in animal dentistry.

Diaries and 'case studies' are completed throughout the course in addition to some course work. All of which go towards the final assessment mark.

All candidates must be qualified and listed Veterinary Nurses.

Applications are invited for the period of 1st October to 30th November and should be submitted to the BVNA during this time.

Syllabus
All sections principally apply to canine and feline dentistry.

  • Anatomy and Physiology of the head and dentition
  • Aetiology & pathogenesis of dental diseases
  • Assimilation of dental diagnostic information
  • Dental Treatment
  • Health & Safety
