BVNA STAGE A SUCCESSFUL CONGRESS AT NEW VENUEJudging by the 20 per cent increase in veterinary nurse registrations and the increased number of 106 exhibitors, the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) is hailing their 34th Annual Congress and exhibition a great success. This event was held at a new venue of the spacious and completely refurbished Kettering Conference Centre (KCC) on 19th to 21st October. The Congress Opening Ceremony speaker, Dr Scott Miller proved to be a great draw and did not disappoint the audience with his entertaining and amusing speech with anecdotes on his life as a vet and TV personality and the important role that veterinary nurses have played in some of the work he has undertaken, both in the UK and abroad. Among the winners of veterinary nursing awards and bursaries, a special Honorary Member Award was given to Alison Clark for her work for the BVNA and especially with organising the stewards at its congresses over the years. New BVNA President, Claire Fraser, RVN, MBVNA, commented, “We were all naturally a bit nervous on staging the first congress at our new venue; but apart from a few inevitable teething troubles, thanks to the marvellous work of the BVNA team and our association managers, it all went off really well. “We already have ideas on how we can improve upon this year’s format and offer more CPD to a greater audience; so I am really excited at the prospect of planning for next year’s Congress which will fall within my presidential year,” she concluded. ![]() |
