BVNA Congress Keynote Speaker
BVNA is delighted to announce that Welsh Regional Rugby Coordinator, Rachel Taylor RVN, will be attending Congress in October as keynote speaker.
Rachel has been involved in veterinary nursing from 19 years of age becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2010 with Abbeydale Vetlink. Having worked in several busy and established practices including Cater Veterinary Surgery -North Wales, Gower Vets -Swansea and Viking Vets in Bristol; Rachel considers herself very fortunate to have worked with professional veterinary teams in some brilliant and diverse practices.
Rachel played International rugby in excess of 10 years and with retirement from the game looming took a new career path with the Welsh Rugby Union as a Regional Rugby Coordinator in North Wales.
The role has provided Rachel with an opportunity to give back to the area she was originally from by helping to grow the game and making rugby sustainable.
Rachel has captained both the 7’s and 15’s International Welsh Women’s senior teams and with 62 international caps she is hoping to achieve her goal of making the squad for what will be her 3rd Rugby World cup in August 2017.
Facilitating and driving equality within Women’s Sports is a huge incentive for Rachel and she is currently an ambassador for Women’s Sports UK and an advisory member of the International Rugby Players advisory group.
Keen to stay true to her veterinary roots; Rachel hopes to remain as a Registered Veterinary Nurse and to once again return to practice post World Cup. Rachel is keen to share her experiences surrounding team environments within her sport and how these translate to a business environment.
Come along to Congress to hear Rachel talk about her experiences and to see her present to deserving winners during the awards ceremony held on Friday 6th October at 11am.
