I completed my VN training at the Royal Veterinary college in 2000. Gaining my assessor D32/33 qualification and having then worked six years in small animal practices within the uk, I travelled for a year to Australia. Working there was great fun and would advise anyone to go do it! Locuming on my return, then finally settling in Northants, I now find myself as a Head nurse in The Johnston Vet Clinic in Wellingborough.

I hope the role as RCO will enable me to develop and motivate nurse within my region to push themselves and gain the respect they deserve within their own practices as well as the nursing profession. I hope my approach to this position will be a modern, passionate and fun one. I also hope to bring new aspects of vet nursing to the region such as zoology and wildlife/conservation. My personal interests are feline medicine and behaviour so I hope to include those subjects within the meetings also.

Regards
Dawn Smith RVN, MBVNA
