Judy Blythe – The Regional Co Ordinator for The Welshpool Region Writes:

Pauline Wellbelove from Pet Plan came to Walford and North Shropshire College on a very rainy night to talk to us about Pet Insurance and Added Value. Unfortunately this wasn't a very well attended meeting, but those that came would agree that we had an extremely interesting and stimulating evening. Pauline is still working as a vet nurse as well as working for Pet Plan and her enthusiasm for the profession was very obvious. Her talk about Pet Insurance was very useful because it described the type of information that nurses are allowed to pass on to clients in the confusing world of pet insurance. There are scores of pet insurance companies out there and it is important that we understand the basics of what their policies cover, so that we can help our clients to ask the right questions about the cover for their pet. Pauline provided that information in an easy to understand form and in a way that we could help our clients make a better informed decision.

The second part of her presentation was about "Added Value" and before she started we had absolutely no idea what this would be about. So when Pauline got us to think about the little extras that the major supermarkets provide, we realised that we were being introduced to something very stimulating. Maybe because we were a small group, there was lots of audience participation and an exchange of lots of different ideas. Pauline was able to stear us towards many suggestions about how to "add value" to our services- recovery packs for post surgery patients: a free puppy lead for every puppy at a puppy party; a sample of kitten food at a kitten check; a telephone call to a client to check on the progress of a patient and many many more. In all it was a brilliant evening and Pauline was full of enthusiasm and ideas.

I would like to thank Pauline and Pet Plan for sponsoring this evening.
