Claire FraserClaire Fraser RVN MBVNA

I started my VN training in 1987 and qualified in 1990.  Since qualifying I have worked in Small Animal Practice, and lectured at the Berkshire and Warwickshire Colleges, until September 2006, when I moved to my present job - a full time Internal Verifier for MYF Training in Aldershot. I hold the D32/33/34/V1 awards, and I also have to keep up to date with my nursing, so I spend time working in Practice from time to time.  I enjoy medical nursing more, especially laboratory work and in-patient care (especially feline).  One day I hope to study for my BSc in Veterinary Nursing, but must be put on hold until I can give it my full attention.

Now into my ninth year on Council, I am looking forward to being the President once again.  During my time on Council, one of the many things I have enjoyed is speaking to veterinary nurses across Europe, providing them with valuable information about the work carried out by UK VNs, and the role of the BVNA.  It is also very exciting being part of an organisation that helps work towards a statutory register for Veterinary Nurses.

I still live in Hampshire and enjoy spending much more time with my family & friends, as I am sure that before long, some feline waif & stray will come my way - so will make the most of my ‘freedom' for now.  And for the last two years, I have taken part in the "Race For Life" event in Southsea, helping to raise money for cancer research.  I hope to continue for many more years.
