Claire Fraser RVN MBVNA

Claire FraserI started working as a student nurse in 1987 and qualified as a VN in 1990 & worked in General Veterinary Practice until 1996, when I took up the position of Lecturer & Course Tutor at the Berkshire College of Agriculture. Here I gained my D32/33 units & the FAETC.

In 2000, I moved to Guernsey to become the Practice Tutor. I set up & ran the PreVN/SVN training side of the practice. I also gained my D34 certificate in Guernsey. I also took on the role of RCO for the Channel Islands until 2003, when I was elected onto the BVNA Council.

In March 2004, I moved back to the UK (after my work permit ran out) and worked as a Clinical Nurse and SVN Assessor for a Small Animal Practice in the W. Midlands until September 2005. After which, I moved to Warwickshire College and took a maternity cover post as an Internal Verifier and Lecturer.

I now work full time as an Internal Verifier for MYF Training in Aldershot (since September 2006). I am extremely lucky to have a job that I enjoy and an employer that allows me to be flexible, so that I can fit in my new role as BVNA President. I have also achieved the V1 award, which has kept me up to date with the quality assurance process and to make sure I continue to provide my assessors and students with the right support and guidance.
