Helen Ballantyne BSc (Hons) RVN MBVNAHelen Ballantyne

I have been working as a veterinary nurse for six years having gained my qualification in 2005. I also have a degree in pharmacology and at present I have been working as a locum nurse in a variety of practices across the UK.  On a personal level I would describe myself as more of a cat than a dog person and I love to travel although I hate flying.  I am also a volunteer for the Anthony Nolan Trust.  I have worked in a variety of different fields and to date the most enjoyable job was working with wildlife in Tasmania.

I believe that this is a time of great change within our profession and I want to be involved in the debate that is taking place.  I am especially interested in ensuring that these changes will be beneficial for both veterinary nurses and their patients.  I also believe that by being on BVNA Council I will be able to represent the veterinary nurse who works in general practice and thereby ensure that your voice will be heard.
