Louisa Baker RVN MBVNA
I have been veterinary nursing for over 10 Years. I have learnt so much about veterinary medicine, animal behaviour, practice management and veterinary nursing education.
Over the past ten years I have become qualified in veterinary nursing and small correspondence courses on Nutrition, Insurance adviser, Equine science and animal behaviour. I regularly attend CPD meetings and research on the internet for further information that will help with the daily requirements of veterinary nursing.
I have been abroad on voluntary neutering schemes to help reduce the breeding of feral cats and dogs in countries with over population problems.
I regularly involve the practice in fundraising for our local animal charities and also small marathons for cancer research charities.
My main area of interest is education for veterinary nurses. I became an assessor to help further my nurses careers and help them with learning, training and practical experiences. I would like to continue training nurses and expand my knowledge and pass it on to others.
I have been going to BVNA Congress for many years and have enjoyed and learnt a lot through the lectures. This year I will be going to the local middle schools to do a small talk on my job as a veterinary nurse and to help educate children the importance of animal care.
In April 2008 I was awarded 'Vet Nurse of the Year' in which I am truly honored.
