Maz Hopcroft Maz Hopcroft

My name is Marion Hopcroft, but everyone calls me Maz. I started my working life with horses and worked in Germany in a yard for several years before entering veterinary nursing. Whilst in Germany I was lucky enough to compete at several one and three day events as well as supporting my boss as co-driver in his driving competitions two and four in hand. As a nurse I worked in a number of practices including an ophthalmic referral practise in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Once qualified I worked as a locum for a couple of years and then moved to Zimbabwe where was lucky enough to work with wildlife such as lions, elephants, kudu to name a few and this also involved teaching the local staff how to monitor anaesthetics and perform basic nursing duties.  From this I moved into teaching initially at Reaseheath College and now as manager of the animal management and veterinary nursing department at Sparsholt College. On joining education I have completed a degree through the Open University and am just starting a master in educational management. Outside of work I love spending time with my new puppy Monty and I enjoy salsa dancing and horse riding when time allows.
