In 1996 I started my training as an SVN, qualifying in 1999.The practices I have worked in have all been mixed and based in the South West. Previous to veterinary nursing I had worked in countryside management. I joined Bicton College five years ago as a lecturer in Veterinary Nursing. Since 2004 I have also taken on the roles of Veterinary Nursing and ANA course tutor. While continuing my role at Bicton, I am very pleased now to have been accepted for the role of BVNA regional co-ordinator for Devon and Cornwall as I feel strongly that veterinary nurses need and desire CPD at all stages of their career. I want to facilitate access to relevant, contempory subjects that reflect what nurses and practices require. These events will aim to be not only informative and interesting, but organised in a way that all will feel comfortable to explore topics and develop knowledge and understanding that can be put in to developing good practice. On the comfort topic – hopefully they will also be enjoyable and be accompanied by succulent treats!
