I am a locum veterinary nurse who lives in the West Midlands and have more than six years experience in the profession.

I first pursued a career in veterinary nursing as soon as I left school. It was a work experience placement when at school and a part-time kennel maid job that initially started my passion for caring for animals.

After leaving school I starting as an auxiliary nurse in a small animal hospital near to where I live in the West Midlands. I went on to start my training in 2003 before qualifying as at a veterinary nurse in 2005.

I continued to work in practices in the West Midlands gaining more experience before a career change in 2007. It was this move to work in finance that made me realise how much veterinary nursing is the career for me. After greatly missing nursing I decided to get back in the profession as a locum nurse.

I love the freedom of working as a locum and the chance it gives me to meet different people and the variety of experiences on offer. I have worked at charity hospitals, sole charge practices, referral work, large veterinary hospitals and mixed practices.
As a locum nurse I feel it is my responsibility to be up-to-date with changes in the profession and to have an interest in all aspects of nursing. I feel very strongly about the issue of accessible and affordable CPD. I want to make sure that the Midlands will receive a variety of CPD topics at different times and locations. If you have any suggestions for up-coming CPD topics then please feel free to contact me.

On a personal level I enjoy cooking, painting, watching films and also love to travel to different countries whenever I get the chance, if only for a few days.
