Kirsty has been in practice as a veterinary nurse for thirteen years and has worked in mixed practice as well as dedicated small animal practice as Head Nurse and assessor. After being in practice for seven years Kirsty moved into education where she taught on Degree level Veterinary Nursing and Animal Science programmes for three years. After teaching Higher Education Kirsty became self-employed working as a locum nurse whilst part time teaching Veterinary Nursing at  a local FE college. After two years Kirsty became a full time lecturer and coordinated the Veterinary Nursing courses. In August 2009 Kirsty became a Director of AVVT and is manager for CPD development. Kirsty still currently works in a dedicated emergency clinic part time. Kirsty is also an RCVS examiner.

Kirsty is dedicated to VN training and critical care nursing, she is a horse owner and enjoys many sports including running, rowing and occasional Mud Runner challenges, when not being sporty she enjoys reading and wine!

Kirsty began her career as a veterinary nurse in her local mixed practice in 1992. She qualified from Berkshire College of Agriculture in 1997. After qualifying Kirsty became involved in assessing student nurses in practice and gained her D32 & 33 awards. In 2002 after 10 years of nursing Kirsty moved into education  at a local FE College and was course manager of Veterinary Nursing which involved running the RCVS Vet Nursing as well the Animal Nursing Assistant course. Kirsty also taught animal care and equine students on full time programs and gained her Certificate in Education in 2005. In 2007 Kirsty left the local college to have her first child, and returned to part time lecturing. In April 2009 Kirsty became Director of AVVT and took over as course manager. Kirsty is also an RCVS examiner.

Kirsty is passionate about veterinary nursing and training, along with the support of nurses and students in practice. Her hobbies are being a horse owner and a Mummy as well as reading and when time allows walking, cooking and sampling wine!
