I started out volunteering at the local PDSA in 1997 two afternoons a week, whilst completing a national diploma in Animal Science, and that is when I decided I wanted to become a VN. I was lucky that once I finished my national diploma I found a SVN position near my parents home in Blackpool where I started in 1999, I then trained and qualified in 2003 from Myerscough Agricultural college.  I have worked at several practices around the North West of England as both locum and permanent staff. I have completed several post qualification courses and am now a pet diabetes advisor, a pet insurance advisor, and a pet nutritional specialist (from Purina).

I also took a brief spell out from nursing to try my hand as a rep, I found that my heart wasn't in it and returned to nursing after a short time. I have been head nurse at a practice in Altrincham and am now Internal medicine nurse at Liverpool University Small Animal Teaching Hospital, my role here is varied with some time spent on paperwork, a lot of time spent nursing and caring for my specific inpatients and client care and occasional time spent in endoscopy, and I work closely with a number of highly regarded specialists in the world of internal medicine.

I am very honoured to be the 'Southern' North West RCO and I hope to do the BVNA and all the members proud. I am open to suggestions regarding future meetings, my personal interests lie in feline medicine and nutrition.

I currently live with my 3 cats, Nutmeg, Tuxedo, Poly and my tropical fish.
