Over the last twelve months, the Industrial Relations Service has spoken to over 100 BVNA members and in that time they have:-
· Ensured that employees understand any implications of changes to their terms and conditions proposed or made by their employers and provided sufficient information for employees to discuss these issues further with their employers to ensure that their rights are protected and that a fair agreement is reached.
· Provided assistance and advice when BVNA members have been bullied by colleagues or even their employer to ensure that this is dealt with, to the best of everybody's interest in the workplace.
· Veterinary Nurses are often asked to work more hours than legally allowed because of out of hour’s rotas and weekend work. This is a regular query received by the Industrial Relations Service who can clarify the requirements in order for BVNA members to discuss this with their employers.
· The Industrial Relations Service often receives questions from BVNA members who do not have an employment contract and are confused over their terms and conditions of employment. The IRS can clarify the situation.
The Industrial Relations Service is there to help you as a BVNA member and since its inception has assisted many BVNA members, its main aim is working towards a mutually acceptable outcome.
