National VN Week Winners - November 12-18 2007
The VN week winners are:
- Northdale Vet Practice, Worthing, West Sussex (Best media coverage), who had a different theme for each day of the week, raised awareness for nursing through publicity on their raising of some abandoned puppies and were featured in radio and newspaper interviews
- Thameswood Small Animal Hospital, Swindon (most unusual, innovative day planned) held an open evening for budding nursing students to give them a chance at seeing how to take xrays, hold consults and scrub up for surgery amongst many other things. They then went to their local Asda/Walmart and took over the tills, bagging up customer's purchases while talking about veterinary nursing to a captive audience waiting to be handed over their purchases!
- Cromwell Vet Group, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire (greatest amount of public involvement) held events every day through the week culminating in their 'Hounds at Hinchingbrooke' charity dog show, at the Hinchingbrooke Country Park. Sarah Wright, editor of Your Dogs magazine, was their guest judge for numerous events and there was also an agility demonstration. One of the Cromwell nurses had his head shaved for Charity!!
- Calder Vet Group, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire (most money raised for charity) over £1670 in sponsor monies and £145 for Dogs Trust, in an event at Pugneys Country Park in Wakefield.
- The best reps prize of Champagne and luxury chocolates goes to Sarah and Kath Ilsley from Novartis, who supported Cromwell Vet Group by helping out at their 'Hounds at Hinchingbrooke' event.
