Nimisha Patel RVN

My name is Nimisha Patel and I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2015 after completed my BSc in Veterinary Nursing and Bioveterinary Science. I joined BVNA Council in October 2015 as the Student Council Advisor and have since been involved in several projects focussed on veterinary nursing and animal welfare. I was on the VN Futures Working Party and travelled around the country on the roadshow talking to VNs from across the nation. I have also been involved in campaigning for better awareness of and dangers of brachycephalic breeding and their prominence in the public eye. I have also appeared on Crufts in 2017 as a Health and Welfare reporter.

On joining council, I founded the British Association of Veterinary Nursing Students (BAVNS), a sub association within BVNA, that is aiming to be ‘the voice of student veterinary nurses’. BAVNS gives SVNs the opportunity to be more involved with their profession and lobby for the issues and rights of animals and themselves.  BAVNS has successfully organised and held two social events for student veterinary nurses at BVNA Congress and hopes to continue this, long into the future.

I work in Somerset as a Deputy Head Nurse and live with my fiancé and our beautiful tortoiseshell DSH Astra.
