Oral Care Nurse Certificate

Oral Care Nurse is an exciting new initiative for Registered Veterinary Nurses

The British Veterinary Dental Association and The British Veterinary Nursing Association have joined forces to offer a bite sized course worth 8 hours of CPD!

The programme, proudly supported by Pedigree & Whiskas and our media supporter, VN Times aims to provide nurses with the knowledge and skills to deliver effective oral care clinics, drive awareness of oral health and identify pets that are in need of oral care attention.

To enrol and gain the Certificate you will need to be an RVN and complete all 3 modules of the online course.  This includes a series of webinars, instructional videos, short tasks and a final MCQ assessment paper.

Candidates will need to achieve a minimum of 70% in the final assessment, plus complete all of the short tasks in order to achieve the Oral Care Nurse Certificate.

Candidates that complete all the short tasks AND achieve over 80% in the final assessment will have the fantastic opportunity to attend a FREE bonus day of CPD at The WALTHAM® Centre for Pet Nutrition*, held in September.  This bonus day will include dedicated lectures by BVDA, a VIP guided tour and formal certificate and badge presentation.

Delegates will gain knowledge and understanding on:

  • Dental and Oral Anatomy

  • Periodontal Disease and dental treatment options

  • Oral Care Nurse clinics and principles of home care

Due to the overwhelming uptake on the new Oral Care Nurse Certificate, BVNA and BVDA have made the decision to close the course to new enrolments on 31 May 2017.  Delegates already enrolled and undertaking the course will still have up to 31 July to finish and complete their final assignment.

This early cut-off date will ensure that we meet customer service expectations and the turnaround of marking and certification is prompt.

A new start date will be released shortly for anyone that has not yet had a chance to enrol.  To receive details as soon as it is released, please register below:
