Nicola Ackerman

Nicola Ackerman PGDip RVN CertSAN CertVNECC VTS(Nutrition) HonMBVNA
Nicola works as the Head Medical Nurse at Plymouth Veterinary Group. Nicola has written for many veterinary publications and textbooks and is the editor of Aspinall’s Complete Textbook of Veterinary Nursing. Nicola is Consultant Editor for The Veterinary Nurse.

Nicola has won the BVNA / Blue Cross award for animal welfare, the SQP Veterinary Nurse of the Year and the SQP Nutritional Advisor of the Year. Nicola is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Advanced Veterinary Nursing with Glasgow University.

Katie Ford

Katie Ford, BVSc PGCert CertAVP(SAM) MRCVS graduated with distinction from the University of Liverpool in 2012. Since then she has continued to work in small animal first opinion practice, gaining her RCVS Certificate in Internal Medicine in 2017. Realising the power of preventative mindset strategies through her career and journey, she trained as a coach and now teaches other professionals how to use these techniques to thrive in the veterinary world. She regularly helps individuals and companies on topics such as gratitude, self-worth and dealing with “Imposter Syndrome.”


Racheal Marshall

Racheal Marshall RVN VNCertECC qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2003 whilst working in a busy general practice where she remained for the next 3 years as Senior Nurse.  After a short period working as a Lecturer in Veterinary Nursing & Animal Management she returned to nursing as an Emergency & Critical Care nurse working for Vets Now in 2008. 

Racheal achieved the Veterinary Nursing Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care in 2011 and is a certified RECOVER instructor, she took up her current position as Head of Clinical Nursing at Vets Now in 2014.
