Alex Taylor joined the BVNA Council in October 2018. “I applied because I could see that BVNA were involved in lots of areas of the Veterinary Nursing profession and I thought to myself ‘If you want to see change, you need be take  part in the process’ so I was nominated to run for council, and to my delight I was voted in.”

BVNA launches a Life-Long Learner Bursary in memory of Louise O’Dwyer

A new ‘Life-Long Bursary’ has been announced in reflection of Louise’s passion for education and ongoing learning to seek continuous enhancement of veterinary nursing practice.


The BVNA will contribute by providing 50% of a course fee, up to the value of £2,000. For example, a total course fee of £3,500 would attract a bursary of £1,750.  One bursary fund will be available each year.

Nicholas Taylor says “My involvement with BVNA Council began in 1996 after receiving a phone call at work from a colleague and good friend to inform me I had been nominated and would I be interested. Having been a member of BVNA since 1988 and regularly attending Congress, I was aware of BVNA Council, but not fully aware of everything they did, so I thought why not give it a go, it could be interesting. I eventually stood down from council in 2001.”
